Tiger Woods choosing Bridgestone golf balls reminds me of Brock Osweiler signing with the Houston Texans — I’m sure that both athletes aspired to signing with a more competitive brand (i.e. Titleist or Callaway and the Denver Broncos), but probably found that their compensation demands were higher than their true market value.
If not for Wood’s recent back injuries, he may have enjoyed a “legacy” contract a la Kobe Bryant’s last 2 years with the Lakers. As it is, he ends up with the Peyton Manning to the Broncos scenario. But hey — Peyton won a Superbowl in Denver, so let’s look for another major this year with Tiger playing Bridgestone balls.
