Tiger Woods put on quite a show during the Hero World Challenge — he led the field in birdies and double bogeys.
What does that performance say to me? It says that he’s a) 41 not 21 and b) returning from a long layoff due to back surgery.
For those of you who expected him to finish in the top half of a limited but strong field of golfers are remembering Woods in his prime. For those of us born in the same era as Tiger, his performance feels more like a victory than a defeat given the toll that time takes on the body of even non-professional athletes.
I can’t imagine how his body feels after a round of golf given that he’s out of golf shape — I read somewhere that he’s so used to riding in carts that walking a round feels unusual.
Let’s all give him some slack while he gets his golf legs back under him.
